Coaching and Mentorship
Providing a support system in the form of a learning experience to improve at the workplace.
A mentorship program is beneficial for both the mentee as well as the mentor. The newbie is provided with a support system in the form of a mentor, who can help them out, teach them the ropes of the job. It helps the mentee understand fully the job responsibilities and expectations so that they can do their best. This becomes an on the job training experience for them. For the mentors, it is an opportunity to share their knowledge and skills and gives them a sense of responsibility and importance. The mentee developing skills and improving their work helps benefit the entire workforce.
Coaching: As John Whitemore, the author pioneering new techniques in business coaching, said “Coaching is unlocking people’s potential to maximize their own performance. It is helping them to learn rather than teaching them.” Workplace coaching creates a constant environment for learning to take place. It helps keep employees motivated and perform at optimal levels. This is advantageous not only for the employee but even for the company on the whole.
